The Honorable Larry L. Jeske

The Honorable Larry L Jeske, 84, Gillett, died Sunday morning, December 15, 2024 with his son by his side. The only child of Victor and Emma (Padinger) Jeske was born August 1, 1940 in Wausau.

A man of great intellect and dedication, Larry graduated from Shawano High School before earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his law degree from Marquette University. His legal career was marked by distinction; he served as an attorney in private practice before serving 12 years as an Oconto County judge. After retiring from the bench, Larry continued to serve his community as attorney for the City of Oconto Falls for an additional 17 years.

Larry’s life was enriched by his many passions. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and golfing. He mentored younger generations with his knowledge as a hunter’s safety instructor and was a devoted Boy Scout leader. His fondness for dogs led him to raise beagles and Gordon Setters. He was a longtime member of River Island Golf Club in Oconto Falls and enjoyed golfing weekly in their senior and league events. Larry always had a good story to tell, making for great times and many memories.

He is survived by his son, Karl (Amy) Jeske, OH; as well as his cherished grandchildren Braeden, Gavin, and Kieran Jeske.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joan in 2010 and their son Kurt in 1995.

Visitation will be held 10AM until 2PM Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls with a sharing of memories to follow.
