Ruth Schulz

March 5, 1933 — May 22, 2024

Ruth Schulz, 91, Oconto Falls, went to her heavenly home Wednesday morning, May 22, 2024.  “She came, she saw and she almost conquered” is all Ruth wanted said after her death but there was so much more to be said.

Ruth was born Sunday, March 5, 1933 in Oconto Falls to Henry and Helen (Krause) Marks.  She grew up on the family farm on the edge of Oconto Falls and attended public schools, graduating from Oconto Falls High School with the class of 1951.

On June 12, 1954 she married Milton “Mick” Schulz at Grace Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls and they had three children.  Ruth was employed at Community Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls as a transcriptionist in radiology for many years.  For the past 30 years, she was a valued member of the Jones Funeral Service family in Oconto Falls.  When a member of Grace Lutheran Church, she served as church organist for over 30 years and was involved in numerous church activities.  Ruth is a current member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Gillett.  As an avid sports enthusiast and longtime Packer season ticket holder, she followed all of Wisconsin sports on the local and state levels and could converse with all ages about current players, standings and coaching.  Ruth belonged to River Island Golf Club in Oconto Falls for most of her life where she always played a competitive game and enjoyed her Tuesday Ladies League.  Ruth will also be lovingly remembered for her great sense of humor and being a true friend to many.

She is survived by her three children, Pam (Dan) Schiller, Oconto Falls; Karen (Steve) Hughes, Berryville, VA; Jeff Schulz, New York, NY; one sister, Judy Moede, Menasha; one sister-in-law, Karen Marks, Green Bay; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mick in 1998, one sister, Dorothy Ellner on May 8, 2024, three brothers, Norbert “Nubs” (Marian), twins David “Homer” and Donald Marks, three brothers-in-law, Bob Ellner, Dean Moede and Paul (Audrey) and her in-laws, Paul and Anna Schulz.

Visitation will be held after 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Gillett until the time of service.  Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Tuesday at the church with Pastor Chris Byars officiating.  Burial will take place 10:00 AM Wednesday in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls.
