Ronald L. Hoffmann, 76, Stevens Point, died Thursday, July 29, 2021. He was born in Appleton, WI on December 11, 1944 to Robert and Vernetta (VanBoven) Hoffmann. Ron graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1963. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969 including a one year tour of duty in Viet Nam and earned an E5 rank and Purple Heart.
Upon discharge, he returned to work as a truck driver for Morning Glory Dairy. He and his first wife, Lynda (Lemerond) bought a hobby farm near Greenleaf, WI as they began to raise their children. During this time, they enjoyed motorcycle trips with some very special friends. After nine years, they sold the farm and bought the old Stiles General Store. The family of four built up a good business, working 12-16 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays for eleven and a half years, while living in the building. During this time Ron started a model railroad club.
From model railroading, Ron went on to work for WI Central Railroad in Stevens Point, WI. For the last 23 years, he lived there with his wife Jenny Wolosek following their marriage on January 20, 1998 in Las Vegas. The couple enjoyed traveling to Florida during the winter and doing flea markets and antique shows. They also traveled the Western and Midwest states doing the same kinds of things including collectibles and gun shows, until he was diagnosed with cancer about 6 years ago. Even then, the couple continued to do so only closer to home with his wife as his loving caregiver. Ron also enjoyed watching the Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Nascar races as well as the History and Discovery channels.
He is survived by his wife, Jenny; his sister, Patricia Hoffmann, Gore, VA; one son, Jody L. Hoffmann, Milwaukee; one daughter, Lisa L. Hoffmann (John) Manser, Greenleaf; one grandson, Noah John Manser and one granddaughter Emma Jo Rose Manser; two stepchildren, Larry (Patti) Wolosek and Laurie (Dan) Kawlewski; 8 step-grandchildren and 15 great step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twin sister Ronna Hoffmann.
