Robert B. Metzler, age 97, of Green Bay, formerly of Oconto Falls, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Woodside Senior Community. Born on July 8, 1927, in Oconto Falls to Anton and Desirea Metzler, Bob spent his early years in his hometown, where he attended St. Anthony Catholic Grade School before graduating from Oconto Falls High School with the Class of 1945. Following graduation, he honorably served his country in the United States Army.

On August 7, 1954, Bob married Alice Bohl at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls, and together they built a life deeply rooted in their community. He pursued business studies in Oshkosh before embarking on a career as an accountant, working at Scott Paper Company, the City of Oconto Falls, and later the Oconto Electric Cooperative, where he remained until his retirement in 1992. In addition to his professional career, Bob was a familiar and friendly face behind the bar at several local establishments, where he worked for nearly 60 years. Even in retirement, he stayed active by working at River Island Golf Course.

Bob was deeply committed to his community. He served as treasurer for St. Anthony Parish, was a dedicated board member of the NEW Credit Union, and was a respected member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Anthony Parish.

Bob and Alice shared a love of travel, often visiting their children and grandchildren across the Midwest and East Coast.

Bob is survived by his five children: Mike (Karen) Metzler of Lindstrom, MN; Annette (Tom) Sanderson of Rye, NH; Mark (Cindy) Metzler of Coleman, WI; Valerie (Jim McCaslin) of Fort Myers, Florida; and Tony (Julie) Metzler of Pardeeville, WI. He was a beloved grandfather to ten grandchildren: Nic (Adrienne) Metzler, Kaitlin (Shady) Taha, Alex (Alicia) Metzler, Carrie Erickson, MD (Brandon) Erickson, Holly Pyzik (Anthony LaCassa), Michael Sanderson (Kirstie Calams), Andrew (Courtney) Metzler, Crystal (Charlie) Cooperman, and Connor and Grayson Metzler. He was also blessed with eleven great-grandchildren: Raymond, Ismet, and Mohy Taha; Brooke and Layla Erickson; Penelope and Rocco Metzler; Joseph Pyzik; Asher and William Cooperman; and Beckett Metzler. Additionally, he is survived by brother-in-law Ken (Judy) Bohl and sisters-in-law Jan Steinhorst, Carolyn Bohl, and Sue Bohl, all of Green Bay, WI.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice; his parents, Anton and Desirea Metzler; and his infant daughter, Mary Metzler.
