Patricia Herning of Oconto Falls, WI passed away on March 14, 2025 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Green Bay, WI. She was born on October 3, 1952 to Donald and Irene Schlise.
Patricia grew up in Stone Bank, WI on a dairy farm with her two older brothers and younger sister. She learned the meaning of taking pride in her work no matter how small the task. In 1972 she married John (Jack) Herning and moved to Sobieski, WI and later to Oconto Falls, WI. She had two children (Garrett and Alisha). She worked as a hairdresser, at the Frigo Cheese Factory in Morgan, as a hostess at the Farmhouse Ice Cream Parlor, and as a custodian for the Pulaski School system.
Patrica’s family and her faith were the center of her life. She absolutely cherished her husband, children, and grandchildren. She regarded her children as her largest and most rewarding accomplishment in life, taking loving care to nurture and raise them. Next to her children, her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She took pride in watching them grow, loved spending time with them, and always engaged their curiosity. She also cherished her siblings and worked hard to maintain her closeness to them. She was a devout Christian. She strove to keep the light of Christ in her heart and thanked God for her many blessings. She had a true grace to forgive and a selfless love where she always put others before herself.
Outside her family, Patricia had a love for gardening and planting flowers, with tulips being her favorite. At home, keeping the house clean and organized was a top priority. Keeping connections with her many relatives and friends was very important to her. She delighted in travel and day or weekend trips to new places, especially with family and her grandkids. She was a true light who had a warmth and genuine kindness like no other who will be truly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, John "Jack" Francis Herning; son, Garrett (Laura) Herning of Hartland, WI; daughter, Alisha (Josh) Pech of Statesville, NC; five grandchildren, Mackenzie, Lucas, Madelyn, Jayden, and Jaxson. She is further survived by her brother, Robert (Jeri) Schlise of Mt. Juliet, TN; sister, Sherry (Rich) Reimer of Milwaukee, WI; nieces, Dee (Joe) Rossa and Janet (Rick) Maddox; nephews, Dusty (Holly) Schlise, Brian (Jynnifer) Schlise, and Neil (Ashley) Schlise; and niece-in-law, Kim Schlise.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Irene (Tetzlaff) Schlise; brother, Harold (Georgia) Schlise; and nephew, Daniel Schlise.
