Marilyn J. Spice

October 6, 1929 — December 19, 2018

Marilyn J. Spice, 89, Seymour, formerly of Oconto Falls, died Wednesday morning, December 19, 2018 at Good Shepherd health care facility in Seymour with family present.  She was born October 6, 1929 in Crivitz to Joseph and Josephine (Gromeski) Nemojeski.

On May 1, 1948 she married Floyd Spice in Lena.  The couple lived most of their married lives in the Oconto Falls area where they raised 8 children.  Marilyn was a dedicated homemaker who could always be found in the kitchen making meals, canning or baking while simultaneously cleaning and doing laundry.  The washer and dryer never seemed to stop as with five boys in sports and her husband’s carpentry business, dirty clothes were a constant.  She was a longtime member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls.  Marilyn loved babysitting and caring for her grandchildren and sending them home with some sort of “treat”.  She also sent tokens of remembrance in the mail while always remembering everyone’s birthday.  She enjoyed going out for Friday fish fries and a few beers and following her sons Joe, Jerry and Bob’s polka band on the weekends.  Marilyn will be lovingly remembered as a kind hearted person who had a gentle smile, a quick wit and always appreciative and content with life.

Survivors are her husband of 70 years, Floyd Spice Sr., Seymour; their eight children, Floyd “Joe” (Faith) Spice, Jerry Spice, Judy (Dennis) Ellie, Calvin Spice, Robert (Jenny) Spice, Harry Spice, Janet (Todd) Schmidt, Janice (Bob) Schmidt; 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and 17 significant other grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings and in-laws, Harry and Josephine Spice.

Private family services will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Joel Sember officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
