It is with both sadness and celebration that we announce the passing of Lois Mae Malchow, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who entered eternal rest on March 28, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on May 19, 1938, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Lois lived a life rich with love, creativity, and community.
Lois grew up in Antigo, Wisconsin, before embarking on a beautiful journey when she married Kenneth Malchow on July 21, 1957. The couple created a loving home in Neenah, where Lois became an integral member of Peace Lutheran Church, sharing her faith and kindness with all she met. She enjoyed her career at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton for many years. They owned and operated Everbreeze Resort in Mountain, WI from 76 to 79. Later in life, Lois and Kenneth embraced the quiet joys of retirement in Crivitz. They were happily married for 59 beautiful years.
Throughout her life, Lois was known for her artistic spirit. She poured her heart into painting, sewing, and creating ceramics, transforming her creative passions into cherished family heirlooms. Her artistic talents brought joy to many, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
Survivors are her four children; Debra (James) Kurzynske of Hiles, Brad Malchow of Crivitz, Cherie (Chris) Van De Hey of Wrightstown, and Steve (Dawn) Malchow of Lake Mills; 14 grandchildren, Michael (Amber) Lashua, Anne (Chris) Nackers, Katie (Alex) Hedges and Jessica Lashua; Daniel, David and Elizabeth (Mark) Krautkramer, Joshua (Katie) Van De Hey, and Megan (Brett) Mashl, Owen, Carson and Fletcher Malchow, Grant and Sophie Clark; and eight great grandchildren, Eli, Brecken and Maddix Malchow, Hudson and Lillian Hedges, Drew and Esme Lashua, and Hallie Mashl; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ken in 2016; parents, Milton and Mildred; step mother, Hazel Hansen; son in law, Jerry Lashua; two sisters, Jardie (Dick) Rose and Karen (Bob) Wrobleski; and half-brothers, Tom and Chuck Hansen; brothers in law, Gary (Beanie) Malchow and Don (Ginny) Malchow.
A celebration of Lois's remarkable life will take place with a visitation on April 1, 2025, from 1:00 PM at St. Paul Elder Services Chapel (316 E 14th St. Kaukauna), followed by a service at 2:00 PM with Pastor Josh Reese officiating.
Lois Mae Malchow will be dearly missed, but her joyful spirit will forever be a guiding light in the lives of those who loved her. As we gather to honor her life, we celebrate a legacy of love, creativity, and unwavering faith. The amazing display of love she had for her children and grandchildren will never be forgotten.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund will be established.
The family would like to thank the staff members of St. Paul Elder Services of the Birch, Apple Tree, and Poppy Path communities and St. Paul Hospice for the love and compassion throughout the many years of excellent care.
