Kenneth “Ken” W. Geiger

July 9, 1930 — May 6, 2023

Kenneth “Ken” W. Geiger, 92, Oconto Falls, died Saturday afternoon, May 6, 2023 at The Cottages in Oconto Falls with family members at his side.  He was born July 9, 1930 in Milwaukee to Charles and Anna (Schultz) Geiger.  Ken grew up in the Milwaukee area and later attended UW-Madison, graduating with a pharmacy degree in 1953.

On December 28, 1963 he married Salle Thompson in Green Bay.  Ken worked as a pharmacist in Green Bay until moving to Oconto Falls in 1972 where he was employed by Community Memorial Hospital.  In 1976 he purchased the pharmacy in Gillett which he ran as Russell Drugs until 1997.  On August 19, 1987 he married Betty Jansen-Metz in Oconto.  Ken was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Oconto.  He also served as alderman from 1974-1976 for the City of Oconto Falls.  Over the years, Ken enjoyed traveling and woodworking.

Survivors are his wife, Betty Geiger; five children, Dr. Kenneth E. (Sandra) Geiger, Dann (Kim) Geiger, Kevin (Amy) Geiger, Brian Geiger and Kurt (Christie) Geiger; four stepchildren, Margaret Metz, James (Beth) Metz, Jackie Metz and Anna (James) Oninski; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Salle, daughter Cheronne Christiansen and one sister Ruth Buchen.

Visitation will be held after 1:00 pm Friday, June 2, 2023 at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls until the time of memorial services at 3:00 pm Friday.  Ken’s body has been donated to UW-Madison Medical School.

Betty and the family would like to extend a special thank you to The Cottages at Meadowlands in Oconto Falls for providing such exceptional care for Ken, you put a smile on his face daily.
