Kathleen “Kathy” Marie Harvat, 82, Oconto Falls, died Tuesday, January 7, 2025. She was born October 11, 1942 in Rib Lake, WI to Robert and Louise (Nickel) Hein. Kathy grew up in Eagle River and graduated from Eagle River High School, class of ‘61. She married Frank Harvat in Eagle River March 23, 1963 at First Congressional United Church of Christ. Together they raised four children.
Kathy was a longtime chef for Farmhouse Restaurant in Abrams. She was an incredible mother and homemaker. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, always quick witted and full of one liners. Kathy’s favorite past times include reading, cooking, sewing, horseback riding, gardening, birdwatching, daily word searches and crossword puzzles, cheering on the Packers and Brewers, and collecting elephants.
Kathy is survived by four children, Stacey (Todd) Dequaine, Jodi (Byron) Shier, Mike (Amanda) Harvat, and Heather (Eric) Anderson; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jackie Mitchell and Linda (Vic) Bauer.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank (1992); two brothers, Donald “Sonny” Hein and Jim Hein; and three sisters, Marion Glenzer, Shirley Kauer, and Patty DeVerney.
Visitation will be held after 10:00 AM Friday, January 17, 2025 at Jones Funeral Service until the time of service. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fort Howard Memorial Park, Green Bay. Jones Funeral Service of Oconto Falls is serving the Harvat family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will go toward The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research and Alzheimer’s Association.
