John “Jack” Koehne, 88, Oconto Falls, died Friday evening, March 17, 2023 at a Green Bay area health care facility following complications from Parkinson’s disease. He was born December 1, 1934 in Oconto to Henry and Frances (Young) Koehne. Jack grew up in Little Suamico and attended Oconto Falls Public Schools, graduating from high school with the class of 1951. He served in the US Army for two years and following his honorable discharge he later attended UW-Green Bay.
On August 12, 1961 he married Irene Plain at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Green Bay where Jack was employed by Red Owl Food Stores. Because of his knowledge of the grocery business, the couple lived in Marshfield, Marinette and Iowa while working for Carpenter-Cook and Fleming grocery store suppliers. While living in Oconto, he was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Rotary Club of Marinette. John was also active in IESC, which places retired executives in non-US countries, helping to establish logistics around the world.
Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Irene Koehne, Oconto Falls; their two children, Kevin (Susanne) Koehne, Green Bay; Dr. Katrina (Michael) Geitner, Mukwonago; Rotary Daughter, Liv Hiis Bergh, Oslo, Norway; two grandchildren, Zachary Koehne of Seattle, WA and Anna Koehne of Madison, WI; one brother, William (Pat) Koehne, Little Suamico; two sisters, Marge (Tom) Sutrick and Mary Geronimi, all of Howard; one sister-in-law, Sharon Koehne, Green Bay.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Fred Koehne.
Visitation with the urn present will be held after 4:00 PM Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls until the time of service. Memorial services will be held 6:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Fr. Walter Stumpf officiating.
