Herman Rusch

Herman Fred Gustav Rusch, born on March 12, 1934, in Oconto Falls, passed away on April 16, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and craftsmanship. Herman was a self-employed farmer who embraced the land with passion and commitment, working tirelessly to create a home for his beloved family. A jack of all trades and an excellent conversationalist, he had an innate ability to connect with others, sharing stories and laughter that will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

Family was Herman's top priority, and he cherished every moment spent with his wife of 68 years, Dorothy (Daft) Rusch, and their three children, Rick (Elaine) Rusch, Barbara (John) Mueller, and Debra Rusch. His love extended generously to his grandchildren, Cortny (James DeBrock) Mueller, Trevor (Aly) Mueller, Erika (Josh) Goodwater, Austin Monette, Breiley (Jason) Dordel, Taylor (Billy) Tomchek, and Craig (Melanie Carretero) Rusch, as well as his great-grandsons, Miles, Parker, Milo, and Oliver. Celebrating life with his family through gatherings and events was something that brought him immense joy.

He is further survived by his brother, Ewald Rusch; brothers-in-law, Ed Daft, Erick (Belva) Milchner, and George Janavice; and sisters-in-law, Esther (Mel) Westphal and Marianne Field.

Herman was preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Olga (Milchner) Rusch; brother, Gerhardt (Ida) Rusch; sister, Martha Rusch; parents-in-law, Gottlieb and Emma Daft; and sisters-in-law, Chris (John) Stasney, Ruth Milchner, Beverly Janavice, and Julie Rusch.

Herman's passions also included woodworking, where he displayed remarkable skill and creativity. His craftsmanship and attention to detail were evident in every project he took on, leaving a lasting mark in the homes of his loved ones. Herman loved animals and nature. His warmth, kindness, and unwavering support made him a pillar of strength in the lives of many who will carry his memory forward.

A celebration of Herman's life will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Gillett Baptist Church, 10780 Gillett Town Hall Rd, Gillett, with visitation at 9:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Reggie Reinhold officiating. Those who gathered will honor a man whose life was a testament to hard work, family, and the joy of shared memories. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls.
