Elroy W. Peters, 87, Abrams, died Saturday morning, August 10, 2024 at home. He was born September 16, 1936 in Green Bay to William and Elsie (Behnke) Peters. Elroy grew up in Abrams where he attended elementary school, graduating from Oconto Falls High School with the class of 1954. Following graduation, he worked on the Green Bay & Western Railroad for five years. On December 28, 1959 he entered the US Air Force and served for four years during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, Elroy went to work for Fairmont Foods in Green Bay and continued to operate the family farm. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Upon his retirement on March 14, 1998, he enjoyed riding his bicycle on the WI State Trail system and parts of MN, especially the Red Cedar and Chippewa trails in Western WI and putting on as many as 150 miles per week.
Survivors are one brother, Rev. Carl (Marlene) Peters, Green Bay; six nieces and nephews, 13 great nieces and nephews, and 16 great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Rev. Earl (Sharon) Peters.
Private burial services will take place in Brookside Cemetery in the Town of Pensaukee.
