Dixie Lee Senft, born on October 13, 1944, in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully from natural causes on March 24, 2025, at the age of 80. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she resided in Stiles, Wisconsin, where she dedicated her life to her family and various passions.
Dixie was a devoted mother to her beloved late daughter, Dawn Senft (Doerr), and her son, David Senft Jr. She spent 62 wonderful years of marriage to her husband, David Senft, and found immense joy in the birth of her granddaughter, Amaya Senft. Dixie cherished her role as a homemaker, creating a warm and inviting home filled with laughter and love. She enjoyed her professional journey, working at the Medical College of Wisconsin as a Laboratory Animal Technician and taking pride in her time spent as a bus driver for disabled children, deeply impacting the lives of those she served.
Her hobbies reflected her vibrant spirit; she was passionate about crocheting, crafting, gardening, and spending time outdoors, particularly fishing and boating. A devoted caretaker of animals, Dixie raised and showcased champion Persian cats, sharing her love for these beautiful creatures with others. She found peace in nature through birdwatching and took great pleasure in the companionship of her friends and family, making countless memories along the way.
Dixie is survived by her loving husband, David Senft; her son, David Senft Jr.; her granddaughter, Amaya; and her siblings Gary Thompson (Gabby), Judy Jaeger (Siegfried), and Linda Pearson (Robert). She was a devoted friend to the Kader and Setnik families and a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Her legacy of love and creativity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Dixie was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Dawn Doerr; her son-in-law, Bruce Doerr; her parents, Cleo and Zella Thompson; and her brother, Bruce Thompson.
A celebration of Dixie's life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to come together to honor her memory.
