Dean R. Uhl

June 6, 1936 — October 14, 2024

Dean Uhl, 88, Oconto Falls, died Monday evening, October 14, 2024 at home.  He was born June 6, 1936 in Oconto County to Earl and Theresa (Kutcha) Uhl.  The oldest of six children graduated from Oconto Falls High School.  Following graduation, Dean joined the US Air Force where he served four years, working his way up to flying status on B-52 Bombers on missions which lasted as long as 25 hours.  Upon his honorable discharge, he obtained his private pilot’s license which he used to fly solo around the Fort Worth, TX area.

After serving in the military, Dean got a job with United Parcel Service, working his way up to operations manager which meant he was in charge of some of their larger operations, overseeing as many as 200 or more people.  After 25 years with UPS and purchasing a great deal of private company stock, he retired at the age of 53 as a self-made millionaire.  In retirement, Dean had a new log home built on the river next to the Westside Beach in Oconto Falls.  Here he enjoyed his pontoon and speed boats as well as snowmobiles while living on the river.  He also had fun with his dogs, Mike, Pat, Tosha, Shadow and Honey. Dean also loved vehicles, owning over 30 new ones from Corvettes to trucks during his lifetime.

Dean also has a 240 acre estate at Athelstane, WI where he hunted deer, cut firewood and drove his many old trucks, four-wheelers and snowmobiles through the woods.  The property also includes two beautiful homes and out buildings to store all the toys.  Finally, Dean would like it known, he was always generous to his family whenever they needed help.

He is survived by nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law, Bud Tisch and Babe Groth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Yvonne Groth, Donna Waschbisch, Janette Tisch and Judy Koss and infant brother Roger Uhl.
