Daryl Schroeder

Daryl James “DJ” Schroeder, 66, Morgan, died Monday November 4, 2024, at home of natural causes.  He was born November 25, 1957, to Bently and Eleanor (Peters) Schroeder.  Daryl grew up on the family farm in Sampson where he attended a one-room schoolhouse in the Town of Morgan for three years and then continued at Oconto Falls public schools graduating in 1976.  After High School he spent a year in New Zealand working on a sheep farm.  Upon returning to the US, he enrolled at University of Wisconsin – Green Bay and earned his bachelor’s degree.  Daryl shared his musical and theatrical talents in high school and for many years after high school singing at weddings and in choirs, as well as holding various roles in theater productions and musicals.  He served as a Boy Scout Leader for many years and supported many youth as they earned the rank of Eagle Scout, including his two sons. He loved being outdoors, woodworking, watching movies, and spending time tending his parents’ farm in Sampson.

On August 15, 2020, he married Susan Ann Velarde, Jicarilla Apache, from Dulce, New Mexico.  They were both medical laboratory techs who met at an instrument training class in Rochester, NY in the spring of 2017.  Emails led to phone calls and finally dating.

Survivors are his wife, Susan Schroeder; one son Andrew Schroeder; siblings, Mona (Mike) Gauthier and Clarke (Linda) Schroeder; brother-in-law Robert Blau; nieces and nephews, Rob, Tyler, Jamie, Emily, Lydia, Jason, and Jacob.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Forrest Schroeder, sister Barbara (Robert) Blau and brother-in-law John Beers.

Visitation will be at 8:30 AM Saturday, November 16, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan until the time of service.  The funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM with Pastor Katy Tomlanovich officiating.
