Dale D. Ackley, 69, Oconto Falls, died Friday evening, October 11, 2024 of natural causes at an area hospital surrounded by family. He was born June 21, 1955 to Harland and Nettie (Burns) Ackley. Dale was born in Manistique, Michigan, and raised in Germfask, MI. He graduated from Manistique High School with the class of 1973.
After school, Dale was proud to have served in the US Army. He was honorably discharged in 1976. For the next 30 years, he thoroughly enjoyed working as a Heavy Equipment Operator until his retirement and was proud to be a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 139 for 45 years.
More than anything, Dale enjoyed spending time with his best friend and wife, Sally. They were married at The Boardwalk in Manistique, Michigan on May 29, 2004. Dale loved to spend time with his daughters and grandchildren, supporting them in their various activities and attending all of their events. In his free time, he enjoyed snowmobiling, golfing, tinkering on small engines, and helping on his daughter’s farm.
Survivors are his wife of 20 years, Sally; seven daughters, Tracy Ackley of Wausau, Danielle (Jeff) Sass of Green Bay, Sarah Ackley of Oconto Falls, Jessica (Chris) Nord of Gulliver, MI, Jessica (fiancé, Bryce) Mathson of Green Bay, Stacy (Jon) Buettner of Racine, and Sophie (Jordan) Hopper of Oconto Falls; 11 grandchildren, Jeremiah, Braxton, Keagan, Damien, Mason, Gunnar, Hadley, Sylvi, Kora, Zayden and Henrietta; sisters, Annamaye Litterman of Springfield, MO, Adeline Holingshead (Brad) of McMillan, MI, and Norma Smith (Bruce) of Oconto Falls; brother, Paul (Karen) Ackley of Manistique, MI and sister in law, Marianne Ackley of Manistique, MI.
He was preceded in death by his son, Cory Ackley; parents, Harland and Nettie; mother in law, Clara Reno; brothers, Robert and James; and sister, Sharon Erickson.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM Friday, October 18, 2024 at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls. Visitation will continue after 10:00 AM Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Grace Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls until the time of service. Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Saturday at the church with Pastor Gary Olson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls.
